Calic Moon - RISING
Cuban Love Song

Words and music by Shirley Ladd

Inspired by a trip to this fascinating Caribbean island with its natural beauty, warm people and great music. This one’s for you Chuck, with love.

As I looked in your dark eyes and saw the love come shining back at me
Then I realized how it could be
You whispered “I love you” as the waves came crashing from the sea
Then my heart was set free.

We strolled in the moonlight along the white sandy beach
The stars were so bright, almost in reach
You spoke my name softly as your lips bent down to kiss my cheek
The touch of your warm skin was oh so sweet.

Chorus:
Sometimes I hear the wind whisper your name
Sometimes I wonder was it all just a game?
Sometimes I wonder will it ever be the same
As on that warm Cuban night.

You held me so tightly, the warm breeze blowing through my hair
You kissed me so lightly as we stood there
We started swaying so slowly to the rhythms created by the sea
You said “Senorita, will you marry me?”

Chorus:
Sometimes I think things are not as they seem
Sometimes I wonder, was it all just a dream?
And then I remember how we danced in the moonbeam
On that warm Cuban night.
